Emory @ Grady Budget
A "Grady" doctor is any physician providing patient care at Grady. These are School of Medicine faculty from either Emory or Morehouse. In 2010, 697 Emory faculty provided the clinical and administrative services of 294 FTEs. In addition, there were approximately 365 Emory residents. Because $40.8 million of expenses involving Emory is reimbursed to Grady mainly from federal and state sources, the non-reimbursed cost to Grady for all Emory physicians’ salaries and services is 3.7 percent of the hospital's entire budget. This $25.2 million covers integral, needed and requested services by Grady Health System for their operations and patient care.

There’s more. Emory also provided approximately $43.2 million last year through the Emory Medical Care Foundation and the School of Medicine to support salaries, and improve programs and facilities at Grady. Last year, Emory physicians also provided approximately $22.3 million of unreimbursed professional care to Grady’s uninsured patients as well as unreimbursed services to many Grady community projects.
