Ruth M. O'Regan, MD
Dr. O’Regan is an Professor and Vice-Chair for Educational Affairs in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine, and Chief of Service for Hematology and Medical Oncology, Georgia Cancer Center for Excellence at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Area of Specialty: Hematology and Medical Oncology
Dr. O’Regan joined the Emory University School of Medicine faculty in 2003.
My area of focus is on breast cancer, with a specific interest in resistant breast cancers such as triple negative breast cancers. My interest in breast cancer came from my experiences in a laboratory focused on breast cancer during my fellowship, which put into perspective how much more we have to do to help women with this disease.
I am honored to have worked at Grady since 2004, and look forward every week to interacting with my patients here. I believe that patients with cancer should have identical treatment options no matter where they choose to be treated. All our Grady patients with cancer are treated by oncologists who are experts in the patient’s specific cancer type.
Our aim at Grady is to allow our patients to receive optimal therapies, including clinical trials. We have had the opportunity to enroll many of our patients on clinical trials and this has been an extremely worthwhile learning experience for us in particular as well as for our patients. We hope to continue to bring our patients state-of-the-art therapies so we can impact their outcome in as favorable a manner as possible.
