The Woodruff Health Sciences Center is a national leader in life sciences research, attracting more than $300 million per year in sponsored research grants from the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, and other public and private sources. Research is a central mission of all the center's academic divisions, including the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health and the Yerkes National Primate Research Center. A primary focus at Emory is translational research, which rapidly moves basic discoveries from the laboratory into advances in patient care.
Emory's strong partnerships with the nearby Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, American Cancer Society, and The Carter Center, along with the Georgia Research Alliance, the Georgia Cancer Coalition, and other Georgia research universities, provide numerous opportunities for research collaboration and funding.
