Personal Preparedness
What can I do?
- Enroll and update your information in the Emory Alert System
- Prepare an emergency kit
- Know the evacuation route
- Take a first aid and CPR class
- Establish a communication plan with family and friends.
- Does your family know how to contact you or your friends in an emergency and can your friends contact your family if you are unable to call? (e.g. twitter, text message, phone call)
- Get involved - there are growing opportunities for you to become involved in preparing the Emory community
To help Georgians get started, GEMA's Ready Georgia -a statewide emergency preparedness campaign - offers the necessary tools that residents need to make an emergency supply kit, develop a communications plan and stay informed about potential threats. Ready Georgia's interactive Web site, www.ready.ga.gov, provides detailed information on Georgia-specific emergency preparedness and allows users to create a personal profile and receive a customized checklist and a family communications plan.
