CEPAR Advisory: Additional Vaccine Clinics

October 30, 2009

To the Emory Community:

Emory University will continue vaccinations of the highest priority groups for H1N1 influenza next week, including pregnant women and front-line medical staff.

Vaccinations will be offered to faculty, staff, students and immediate, same household family members 18 years of age and over who fall within the following CDC priority groups:

  • Pregnant women
  • Individuals who provide care to a child or children under 6 months of age (either in their household or under their direct care in an out-of-home setting)
  • Healthcare workers, emergency medical services (EMS) workers or health sciences students involved in direct patient care
  • Individuals 18-64 years of age with severe cardiac, pulmonary or neurodegenerative disease

We will ask all others to forego or defer H1N1 vaccination at this time, until the vaccine is available in larger quantities.  Emory students under 18 years of age with underlying chronic serious medical conditions will be offered vaccine at Student Health Services, where appropriate/required parental consent can be verified.

Emory University will offer the following three H1N1 vaccination clinics next week for individuals in the above priority groups.  Seasonal influenza vaccinations will also be offered at these clinics.  However, please be aware that our current supplies are limited and seasonal flu vaccine availability may not extend to all three clinics:

11am-3pm
Dobbs University Center (DUC)
Television Lounge, First Floor

Wednesday, November 4, 2009
2-6pm

Thursday, November 5, 2009

Emory Healthcare is also offering vaccinations of front-line healthcare workers at H1N1 and seasonal flu shot “marathons.”  Information about these clinics for Emory Healthcare workers only can be found at http://www.ourehc.org/departments/influenza/vaccination-schedule.html.

As supply allows, we will expand H1N1 vaccination to other Emory Healthcare patients and Emory University students and employees at increased risk of severe H1N1 infection, per CDC recommendations.

Your ID & Personal Insurance card are required for verification of your faculty/staff/student status.  Please bring these cards with you to the clinic.
