What should I do if I think I have H1N1 influenza (swine flu)?

If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, utilize Employee Health Resources and seek guidance from your personal health care provider. If you become sick, stay home and avoid contact with others, except to seek medical care. Be sure to notify your manager if you are diagnosed with H1N1 flu.

If you develop more serious signs and symptoms of illness, such as chest pain, shortness of breath, severe persistent vomiting, or dizziness or confusion, seek medical care.

Staff can use accrued sick or annual leave for the duration of the time away from the workplace. Work at home options may be used in lieu of sick leave, as approved by your manager, and if these options can be accommodated by University Technology Services capacity. Please contact Human Resources if you have any questions regarding your benefits or alternative work accommodations.

Employee Health Services has five (5) office numbers. Please communicate with the appropriate location based on your office location.

Staff and faculty with flu symptoms will be advised to return home with family or in relative isolation from others while their symptoms resolve. Reducing the spread of the virus in our community is important. Anticipating absence from work and the classroom, and considering alternatives that allow for remote completion of duties or course work will go a long way toward managing the impact of this flu season in our community.
