A. Venable Lawson 50G
Library Science Division Director
During A. Venable Lawson's tenure as director of what became the Division of Library and Information Management, he brought students and alumni a great sense of commitment to the library profession.
In a 1986 report about the school's accomplishments, Lawson noted that the graduates of the division staffed more than fifty academic and public libraries and that division graduates constituted the largest group of alumni of the Graduate School and were the most supportive, active recruiters for Emory.
A distinguished and loyal alumnus, he was director of the Division of Librarianship for twenty-three years, until the division was discontinued in 1988.
