Dean of Alumni
H. Prentice Miller, an English instructor, was Emory's first dean of alumni, serving from 1960 to 1984.
Appropriately, his old desk sits in the Miller Room on the top floor of the Miller-Ward Alumni House. The room is packed with memorabilia: photos, Miller’s calendar, and other treasures.
As an Emory faculty member and an adviser to first-year students and sophomores, Miller was a realist who leveled with students and challenged them to be their best. To his students, he was a beloved teacher, counselor, guide, disciplinarian, and mentor. To alumni, he was an old friend and purveyor of fond memories.
