Through its Thrower Symposium, the School of Law hosts some of the more thought-provoking legal conversations in the country. The series, established in 1987, is named for Randolph W. Thrower, the former commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service and one of the country's foremost minds in the area of federal taxation.
Thrower is a senior partner in the Atlanta firm of Sutherland, Asbill & Brennan and former chair of the tax section of the American Bar Association (ABA). In 1993, the ABA recognized Thrower's many achievements and contributions to the legal profession by presenting him with its highest award, the ABA Medal.
