175 Makers of History: Paula Greenfield Washington
Paula Greenfield Washington 95PhD
President, The Womentor Group
"I was a senior vice president of a company," says Paula Greenfield Washington, reflecting on her life in 1991, the year she entered Emory as one of the university's first two PhD students in women's studies.
Washington's professional success proved she could handle the challenges of starting a new program. As a student, Washington contributed to the work that resulted in the founding of the Center for Women at Emory in 1992. She turned her dissertation into a book, The Womentor Guide: Leadership for the New Millennium. Appropriately, she cofounded The Womentor Group, a small business specializing in educational consulting and training for women.
