As an international student and scholar advisor for ISSS, Kyla is excited to be in the South again, working with undergraduate students (last names A–N) in Emory College, as well as graduate students in the Candler School of Theology.
A Hoosier at heart, Kyla grew up in northern Indiana before heading south for college at Indiana University in Bloomington, where she studied journalism and entrepreneurship. As an undergraduate, experiences both studying and working abroad made her realize she wanted to pursue a career in international education. After nearly two years in Dallas working in healthcare marketing, she returned to Indiana University to pursue a graduate degree in higher education and student affairs. During this time, she spent two years as a graduate assistant in the IU Office of International Services, where she worked with F-1 and J-1 students and scholars.
Kyla enjoys reading, playing piano, activities with her church community, and visiting friends and family across the world.
