| International Students | USCIS Has Reached FY2012 H-1B Cap | U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced on Nov. 23 that it had received a sufficient number of H-1B petitions to reach the statutory cap of 65,000 for fiscal year 2012 (FY12). | Administrators | Change to H-1B Fee Payment Policy | As of 1 September 2011, Emory departments will be required to pay the $325 filing fee for H-1B petitions for faculty and staff in that status. The $325 fee is the standard application fee assessed by United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). | F and J Nonimmigrants from Iran | Visa Validity Lengthened for Iranian F and J Nonimmigrants | On May 20, 2011, the U.S. Department of State (DoS) revised the visa validity schedule for Iranian F, M and J nonimmigrants pursuing non-sensitive, non-technical fields of study and research. | All | House Bill 87: Illegal Immigration Reform and Enforcement Act of 2011 | Georgia Governor Nathan Deal signed into law the Illegal Immigration Reform and Enforcement Act of 2011 on May 13th. This bill focuses on primarily on verification of a foreign citizen's legal status in the United States for the purpose of employment and/or eligibility for public benefits.
