International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) will hire two orientation assistants (OAs) to help with international student orientation in August 2012. The assistants will help newly arrived international undergraduate and graduate students with initial adjustment to Emory University and the Atlanta community. Both assistants will be trained on cross-cultural communication skills, office procedures, and orientation resources. Some of the tasks involved include providing information on departmental and campus resources, assisting with orientation sessions and welcome events, answering student questions about Emory and the Atlanta community, photocopying, filing, general office work, and other duties as assigned.
One orientation assistant will work from August 10–24. The second orientation assistant will work from August 17–30. The work will average four hours per day for a total of 40 hours. Schedules may be flexible based on the needs of the office and the assistants. Students will be paid $360 for the entire two-week period, which may be taxable depending on your tax filing status. Orientation assistants must be available during the entire time period and all day long on Thursday, August 23, 2012 and Friday, August 24, 2012.
