International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) is excited to announce our transition from Peoplesoft to a new system, ISSS-Link, to manage our international population. We will be launching the new system at the beginning of December for all scholar-related functions, with student functionality to come early in 2013.
ISSS-Link will be the new interface for University departments to submit electronic requests (previously known as DRF) to invite international scholars/employees in H-1B, J-1, O-1, or TN status. At a later date, the system will also be able to accommodate requests to sponsor an individual for permanent residency.
Effective December 5, 2012, the ISSS Functions in Peoplesoft will no longer be available to department users. No new requests will be accepted during the transition period between December 5th and December 7th. Please plan ahead to be sure you have any urgent requests submitted before the transition period.
We will begin accepting requests via ISSS-Link starting Monday, December 10.
Why is ISSS moving from Peoplesoft to ISSS-Link? There are multiple reasons for this move. Most importantly, Peoplesoft is discontinuing support for SEVIS reporting in the HR system. This requires us to find a new way to manage our J-1 scholar populations. In addition, ISSS-Link has several new case-management functions that will allow us to more closely monitor and support our scholar population.
When will training be held? Two types of training will be held to introduce department users to the ISSS-Link system.
First, we will be offering two in-person training sessions the week the new system is launched. Trainings are scheduled for the following dates/times:
Tuesday, December 11 – 1-4 - Sign up
Thursday, December 13 – 1-4 - Sign up
Both trainings are tentatively scheduled to be held at the North Decatur Building, 4th Floor Conference Room. Please sign up in advance for a training session by clicking on the link above for the session you wish to attend. If the room location changes, you will be contacted via email.
The same material will be covered at each, so it is only necessary to attend one session. Please note that ONLY ISSS-Link functions will be covered at these training sessions. We will not be discussing general J-1/H-1B concepts.
Second, we will be making the presentation available on the ISSS website for users to download. If you are unable to attend an in-person training session, you can be “certified” to access ISSS-Link by reviewing the presentation, and then completing a brief online quiz to test your understanding of the training materials.
How do I get access to ISSS-Link? You must complete training, either in-person or online, before you will be able to apply for access to ISSS-Link. We will provide more details on requesting access as we get closer to our launch date.
In addition, in order to receive ISSS-Link access, you MUST already have access to the ISSS functions in Peoplesoft. If you have never submitted a department request before, you must attend our basic level training for new administrators. You can register for this training on the HR website.
Thank you for your patience and flexibility during this transition! We look forward to sharing the new ISSS-Link system with you very soon. If you have any questions, please contact Stephanie Roberts at srober8@emory.edu.
