Temporary driver's licenses for non-immigrants with pending extensions

March 5, 2014—The Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) is now issuing temporary licenses to non-immigrants who can provide evidence that they timely filed non-frivolous petitions to extend their stay in the U.S.

This benefit is only available to those who were previously issued a Georgia driver’s license that either expired less than two years ago or that will expire within 30 days.

DDS has not yet updated its website to reflect this change in policy. However, they have provided ISSS with this handout detailing eligibility, documentation, and more.
