Foreign National Tax Resource (FNTR) Software

Nonresident aliens for tax purposes MUST complete their Federal Form 1040NR-EZ or Form 1040NR using the FNTR software and bring the COMPLETED return with them to the tax help sessions! For dependents of J and F visa holders, you must also use FNTR to complete Form 8843. We will not review Form 8843 in the tax sessions.

Georgia Form 500

The FNTR software will not prepare the GA Form 500. Assistance will only be provided for the state return GA Form 500 during the tax help sessions and only for those who have a completed Form 1040NR-EZ. You must have your completed federal return in order to complete the state return. Additional information will be provided to those with Form 1040NR.

Other Important Information

For those planning to attend one of the Tax Help Workshops, the following information will be useful for you:

1) If you are receiving a stipend or paycheck from Emory, you should have received Form W-2 and/or 1042-S by now. For information about your W-2, contact the Payroll Office at 404-727-6100.

2) Forms 1042S will be mailed the week of February 21. If you do not receive your Form 1042-S by February 29th, or if you have questions regarding your form 1042S, call the Controller's Office at 7-6080. Duplicate copies of Forms 1042-S will be made available in the Controller's Office.

3) When you come to the session, make sure that you bring the following documents with you:

-- Completed Form 1040NR-EZ or 1040NR and Form 8843 (if applicable)
-- Passport
-- Visa
-- DS-2019 or I-20
-- Statements of Earnings, such as W-2, 1042-S and 1099.
-- Last year's tax return, if applicable
-- Social Security card

Once again, we will only provide assistance with GA Form 500 in the tax help sessions. We will provide additional written instructions at the help sessions for individuals with Form 1040NR to complete the GA Form 500.
