Changing from J-1 or J-2
In addition to the items in the Required Documents section, you should include:

Copies of all previously issued DS-2019 Forms

For J-2: Copies of spouse's or parent's J-1 immigration documents: DS-2019 Forms, passport biographic page, visa stamp page and Form I-94 (front and back)
You may begin classes while the change of status application is pending; however, you are not eligible for F-1 student benefits until the change of status is approved.
J-1 and J-2 visa holders who are subject to 212(e), the Two Year Home Country Physical Presence Requirement, are not eligible to apply for a change of status unless they have received a waiver of this requirement from the U.S. Department of State. Those who have received a waiver must include a copy of it in the application package.
