Incidental Employment

TN status is employer specific and job specific. As a TN employee of Emory University, you may only be employed and paid by Emory University. In addition, you may only be employed in the specific job described in the letter issued by the department outlining the conditions of your employment or the TN petition filed on your behalf by Emory (if applicable). No other employment is allowed, unless another prospective employer issues a letter of employment or files a TN petition for concurrent employment, or a new amended petition is filed to reflect a change in your employment conditions with Emory if the incidental employment involves working outside the customary duties and responsibilities of your present position. Remember that any new employment must fit within the list of TN professions for you to accept that employment while in TN status.

You may not accept honorariums to be paid by an entity other than the current employer. Only normal and customary travel expenses may be reimbursed to the TN for an occasional lecture, consultation or scholarly activity performed elsewhere within the U.S.
