MyEmory supporters help realize vision of Oxford Library and Academic Commons

Shortly after earning her master’s degree in librarianship from Emory University, Kitty McNeill 85G began her life’s work at the Oxford College Library. Now associate dean and college librarian at Oxford, she has long envisioned a larger, more flexible space where students could gather and learn in a “transformative and evolving environment.”

In fall 2013, Oxford’s new Library and Academic Commons opened. The ribbon cutting celebrated the culmination of 15 years of planning.

McNeill supported the new library and academic commons not only through her diligent work, but also with personal contributions through MyEmory, Emory’s employee annual giving program.

“Giving through MyEmory allows me to not only support the place where I went to school, but also where I work,” she says. Even if employees can’t give in a large way, each small contribution counts.”

Staff and faculty across the university supported the Oxford library project through MyEmory.

“The support of Emory faculty and staff has been instrumental in seeing this project through to fruition,” McNeill says.
