Alan I. Abramowitz is the Alben W. Barkley Professor
of Political Science at Emory University.
He is a nationally known expert on national politics and elections.
His areas of expertise include election forecasting models, party
realignment in the United States, congressional elections and the
effects of political campaigns on the electorate. He is prepared
to discuss the general outlook for the 2004 election season and the
Democratic campaign.
Abramowitz is the author of the newly published “Voice of the
People: Elections and Voting in the United States” (McGraw
Hill, 2004), as well as “Nomination Politics” (1984), “Senate
Elections” (1992), and dozens of articles in leading journals,
including The American Political Science Review, The American Journal
of Political Science and The Journal of Politics. His recent publications
include “Ideological Realignment in the U.S. Electorate,” and “Bill
and Al's Excellent Adventure: Forecasting the 1996 Presidential Election” (in “Before
the Vote: Forecasting American National Elections,” James Campbell
and Jame Garand editors).
