The Rev. Dr. Ann Holmes Redding, Episcopal priest and adherent to the Islamic faith, will speak at Emory University's Cannon Chapel at the 10:50 a.m. worship service Thursday, Feb. 28, by invitation of Candler School of Theology's Black Church Studies Program at the spring 2008 Black Church Studies Worship Service. A reception will follow the service.

"Redding's visit contributes to the interfaith dialogue and stretches the boundaries of normative thinking about black church worship and religious experience by offering approaches to ministry," says Renee K. Harrison, interim directory of the Black Church Studies Program at Candler and visiting assistant professor of African American religious practices. "Her visit reminds us that God speaks in diverse ways through an array of religious traditions."

Redding has served as an Episcopal priest for the past 20 years and professes both the Christian and Muslim faiths. She is currently visiting assistant professor of New Testament at Seattle University and former director of Faith Formation at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral in Seattle.

Redding holds an undergraduate degree from Brown University, M.Div. from The General Theological Seminary in New York, and master's and Ph.D. degrees from Union Theological Seminary in New York.

For additional information call 404-727-4180 or email Harrison at rkharri@emory.edu or program associate Ayanna Abi-Kyles at akyles@emory.edu.
