As the April 1 college acceptance day approaches, prospective students and their parents are faced with sometimes daunting decisions, including how to sift through complicated financial aid packages. On the other end of the spectrum, college seniors are facing a much improved job market from just two years ago. From preparing for proposed changes in federal financial aid, to helping students teach each other about managing debt, we offer these ideas on how Emory University is facing the future head-on.

In addition, the university is looking ahead with its April 8 Futurist Forum that will convene thought leaders in major areas of inquiry. The forum is part of a year-long strategic planning process to determine the path to Emory's singular position in higher education.

The students have signed on as peer financial counselors, part of a new effort by the university's financial aid office to help students educate each other on the basics of financial and debt management.

JOB MARKET OPENS UP FOR EMORY CLASS OF 2005
The job market looks promising for many members of Emory's class of 2005, most of whom began their college careers in the midst of a recession and in the shadow of Sept. 11. Career service directors at Emory report the best recruiting year since 2001 that, while not at the heady levels of the late 1990s, is a vast improvement over the stagnant market that graduates from the past three years have faced.
