Profile of Emory Graduates

On Monday, May 12, Emory University graduated approximately 3,302 students from the academic year 2002-03. Of those students, 36 will receive double degrees. An approximate total of 3,338 degrees will be awarded: 1,780 undergraduate degrees; 1,096 graduate degrees and 462 professional degrees.

Forty-five percent of the graduates are male and 55 percent are female. Sixty-six percent of the graduates are white; 11.4 percent are black; and 18.5 percent represent other minorities from the United States. There are 355 students from 77 additional countries. Forty-seven states are represented.

There are 43 degree candidates over the age of 50. The oldest is age 68 and is scheduled to earn a master's in theological studies. The oldest bachelor's degree recipient is a 52-year-old scheduled to earn a degree in sociology, and the youngest is a 20-year-old scheduled to earn a bachelor's of business administration. There are 10 military service veterans graduating. Forty percent of Emory College (the undergraduate arts and sciences college) graduates have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or more. The average GPA of Emory College graduates is 3.3.
