Emory's Thrower Symposium Examines a Post-Enron World

Judges, attorneys and top business experts will examine the effects of increasing global competition on the regulation of business during Emory Law Journal's 2003 Randolph W. Thrower Symposium Thursday, Feb. 20. This year's symposium, "Business Law: The Impact of Competition on Regulation," will feature discussions on how competition affects antitrust law and insider trading, with some focus on how Enron has permanently changed all of business law.

The symposium is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Emory Law School's Tull Auditorium, 1301 Clifton Rd.

Panelists will examine a number of issues facing business law as the global market expands. Judge Frank Easterbrook of the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals will be keynote speaker. He is the author of numerous books and articles on antitrust and the economics of corporate law.

Other presenters and topics will include:

• Jonathan Macey, J. DuPratt White Professor of Law at Cornell School of Law, "Regulatory Globalization as a Response to Regulatory Competition";

• Fred McChesney, James B. Haddad Professor of Law at Cornell University Law School, formerly on the Emory law faculty; "Antitrust Twenty-Five Years Later: Competition in the Field and for the Field";

• Barry Adler, New York University School of Law, and Henry Butler, James Farley Professor of Economics, The George L. Argyros School of Business and Economics at Chapman University, "On the 'Delawarization of Bankruptcy' Debate";
