The Institute for Advanced Policy Solutions, located on Emory University's campus in Atlanta, Ga., serves as a critical hub
for broad interdisciplinary research, applied policy development and public policy training - all focused on evidence-based, innovative solutions to complex problems facing the public, private and nonprofit sectors.
The Institute brings multiple specialties and disciplines together to solve policy challenges using the 'skunk works' concept,
a small, loosely structured team that works outside of administrative structures to develop extraordinary projects.
Institute fellows and staff work in close collaboration, organized around up to four key policy issues that rotate
every 2-5 years. The Institute's current concentrations in public policy research and practice build on Emory strengths:
HEALTH AND HEALTH CARE
POVERTY REDUCTION AND URBAN GOVERNANCE
Through strategic partnerships that capitalize on existing capacity at Emory and leverage new opportunities (internally and externally), the Institute amplifies the research, teaching and service priorities across Emory, as well as at other universities, foundations and organizations.
The Institute serves as a forum for addressing our nation's key domestic and international policy issues, through research, pragmatic policy recommendations grounded in science, theory and practice.
The Institute for Advanced Policy Solutions aspires to develop as a full-fledged department, housing dedicated faculty, offering a unique, cross-cutting curriculum, and tendering both undergraduate and master's degrees. Unlike other schools
of public policy, however, the integrated research focus housed in the Institute will strategically and tactically tie faculty and students together on a broad range of topics.
