WELCOME TO THE INSTITUTE FOR ADVANCED POLICY SOLUTIONS
Through this web site, you will learn about the ongoing activities that make up our community of esteemed scholars, dedicated
researchers and passionate community, corporate, government and policy leaders.
Healthcare is a logical first issue for the Institute to address. In addition to its critical importance in the U.S., Emory already has a
strong interdisciplinary team ready to address the issue. To date, solutions proposed for addressing healthcare reform, and related
components such as chronic disease, seem ill equipped to drive major changes in the health care industry. That's the very reason
why Emory's Institute for Advanced Policy Solutions was designed- to forge new, innovative solutions, guided by the insight and
efforts of varied communities, to positively impact key policy issues that are facing the United States.
Researchers from across Emory, as well as visiting scholars from other universities, think tanks and the private sector, will work in
close collaboration at the Institute to undertake key policy issues. An initial focus of the institute will be to establish a broad,
interdisciplinary, cross-school and cross-institutional research group to tackle the high and rising costs of health care and to create
ways to improve the value of health care spending.
Our policy foci will rotate every 2-5 years and will eventually explore policy concerns related to poverty reduction and urban
governance, mental health and long term healthcare. The team's activities include developing seminars, a series of reports,
meetings with key industry and government leaders and a blueprint for reform that will be released at a major conference at Emory.
Emory's investment in this Institute, as well as the investment of our external partners, will have far-reaching effects in critical areas,
and developing a collaboration to address such important policy questions is an ongoing contribution to the well-being of society.
We thank you for your interest in our Institute and look forward to your input.
