Rick M. Rieder is Managing Director, Head of Fixed Income Alternatives for BlackRock. He was formerly the president and chief executive officer of R3 Capital Partners.
Rick has served as vice chairman of the borrowing committee for the U.S. Treasury, a delegate for the Council on Foreign Relations, a member of the Board of Trustees for the Lehman Brothers Corporate Pension Fund, head of the N.Y. MLEC/SIV negotiations for the U.S. Treasury, and as a presenter to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, European Central Bank, IMF, and Department of the Treasury. He also serves on the board of trustees of Goizueta Business School and the Committee for the Center for Celiac Research at the University of Maryland.
Rick is passionate about urban educational improvement in the United States and serves on a number of boards including serving as the chair of the board of trustees of North Star Academy Charter School of Newark and as a member of the National Leadership Council of Communities in Schools.
He holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and is a Beta Gamma Sigma BBA from Emory, winning the Wall Street Journal Outstanding Student in Finance Award and the Professors Award for Outstanding Finance Student upon graduation. In addition, in 2005 he received the Emory Business School Distinguished Alumni award.
He was elected an alumni trustee of Emory in 2008.
