King & Spalding
Chilton Davis Varner joined King & Spalding in 1976 after receiving her JD with distinction, Order of the Coif, from Emory School of Law. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, she became the second woman partner at King & Spalding in 1983 and the first woman partner in the litigation group.
Ms. Varner has served as trial and/or appellate counsel on the local, regional, and national levels in a variety of litigation matters. She has provided product liability advice and representation, and has been involved in the law of attorney-client privilege, commercial law, and constitutional issues. She is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and co-author of several articles and the Appellate Handbook for Georgia Lawyers. She serves in many professional positions and is active in a number of civic organizations. She has received the Distinguished Alumna Award from the Emory University School of Law.
Ms. Varner was elected a member of the Emory Board of Trustees in 1995.
