Deborah Marlowe is retired from Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy, where she was a managing partner of the firm’s Atlanta office. During her 35-year career, she became recognized nationally as a leading business immigration lawyer, providing strategic counsel related to business immigration law for multinational companies across a broad range of industries. She regularly advised employers on strengthening their immigration programs for both temporary and long-term assignments, creating and maintaining effective immigration risk management programs and developing immigration compliance and other policies. She has written and spoken widely on business immigration matters and repeatedly has been recognized as a prominent member of the US immigration bar in various publications, including Chambers USA and Best Lawyers, and was named Lawyer of the Year, Immigration Law, in Atlanta in Best Lawyers in America 2017.

Marlowe is active in The United Methodist Church (UMC). A longtime member of Glenn Memorial UMC on the Emory campus, she has held numerous leadership positions there, including having co-founded and leading a program that provides weekly food to schoolchildren and their families who are at risk of hunger. She is former chair of the UMC’s North Georgia Conference Board of Trustees and a former delegate to its Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference. Since 2013, Marlowe has served as a member of the Academic Affairs and Campus Life Committees on Emory’s board, and she is a member of the Committee of 100 at Candler School of Theology. She is also on the board of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and is a prior trustee and board secretary of Reinhardt University.

Marlowe graduated with a BA in political science from Emory College and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Mortar Board. She earned a JD with honors from the University of Michigan. 

She was elected trustee in 2013.
