The Clairmont Campus Apartments keep you close to work, stores, and everything else you need while in Atlanta.

All Summer Intern Housing Program (SIHP) residents live on Emory University’s Clairmont Campus. Located in the Druid Hills community of Atlanta, Emory is just minutes from downtown Atlanta, Atlanta’s Buckhead district, and Decatur. The Clairmont Campus offers close access to MARTA (Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) service, the public transportation system of the city.

Clairmont Campus at Emory University is the most popular site for Emory students to live. Located less than a mile from Emory’s central campus, it is accessible by shuttle or a pedestrian bridge. It combines sleek architecture and generous green space, creating a community set off from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta.

Clairmont Campus contains three University Housing complexes: the Clairmont Tower, the Undergraduate Residential Center (URC), and the Clairmont Residential Center (CRC). In total, the Clairmont Campus has a residential capacity of more than 1,500. SIHP residents stay in the URC and the CRC. All apartments consist of private bedrooms, full bathrooms, a full kitchen and a living area. The apartments provided are fully furnished. A covered and gated parking deck is located adjacent to the URC and CRC for convenient and safe parking. Parking is included in the nightly housing cost.

Clairmont Campus is generously staffed. With the SIHP Office open much of the time, and a staff member on-call for after-hours emergencies and lockouts, you can always find help when you need it. The Emory University Police Department, a fully operational police agency within DeKalb County, regularly patrols Clairmont Campus, as well as the numerous emergency phones which link you directly to emergency personnel located on the campus.

The Student Activity and Academic Center (SAAC) is located on Clairmont Campus and all SIHP participants receive free access to it during their stay. Additional buildings on the Clairmont Campus include the Autism Center, the Clifton School, The Mason Mill House and Winn-Dixie Hope Lodge, and various support buildings. Immediately adjacent to Clairmont Campus is the Lullwater Estate, a 660-acre nature preserve which includes hiking and biking trails, large fields, a lake, and the University President’s home.

All utilities and amenities are included in the nightly housing rate at no additional cost.

Built in 2002 (and updated in 2013), Clairmont Campus was designed to provide students with apartment-style living. In the Undergraduate Residential Center (URC), every apartment houses up to four residents and has a living area, full kitchen, and two full bathrooms. Clairmont Residential Center (CRC) apartments vary in size (1-3 students), but include private bedrooms and private bathrooms, plus a living area and full kitchen.

All apartments have central heat and air-conditioning. All utilities are included in the nightly rental price.

All resident and guest parking decks are operated and maintained by university Parking Services. The rules and regulations of Parking Services must be abided by whenever parked on campus. SIHP staff cannot provide assistance with tickets issued by the parking enforcement staff.

Resident Parking
Residents are given access to the secure, covered parking deck adjacent to their building assignment. Upon check-in, residents will be issued a parking pass, which provides access to the URC and CRC parking decks. This pass must be hung on the rearview mirror of your car at all times while in the parking deck. There are no reserved parking spots and we do not guarantee parking in a particular deck or level.

Guest Parking
Paid guest parking is available on the lower level of Starvine Parking Deck. After turning onto Starvine Way off of Clairmont Road, take Starvine Way to the first left and follow the signs for visitor parking.

The upper levels of Starvine Parking Deck are closed to visitors during weekdays from 6AM to 4PM. Outside of this time (including all day on weekends) the decks are opened for general use. During this time, guests may park throughout the deck at no cost, but must leave before the gates close at 6AM on the next weekday. The gate to the upper levels of the parking deck at the first stop sign on Starvine Way. You may NOT park anywhere marked as reserved parking at any time.

The Student Activity and Academic Center (SAAC) is located next to the Undergraduate Residential Center and provides all SIHP participants with access to outdoor basketball, volleyball, tennis, and swimming facilities, outdoor multipurpose field, indoor multipurpose area, strength and conditioning equipment, gymnasium, classrooms, and café.

The Summer Intern Housing Program at Emory offers more than just a place to live. With hundreds of interns from dozens of specialties from all over the world, you get the chance to meet new people, network, and share your interests.

There are numerous opportunities for everyone to relax and unwind. Clairmont Campus is the ideal home for these events. With Lullwater Park in our backyard, a field out front, and a pool, gym, classrooms and lounges next door, there are plenty of resources for activities. Most common areas are open to residents for lounging, meeting, or hosting activities.

In the past, we have featured programs such as: pool parties, penthouse parties, luaus, barbeques, community breakfasts, sports tournaments, distinguished speakers and lecturers, outings to restaurants, local attractions, Braves games, Six Flags trips, Emory events, and professional opportunities. Most importantly, we encourage input from residents in organizing social functions. Bring your ideas and your friends!

MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) can be utilized to travel to and from your local internship if you do not plan to bring a car. The walk to the MARTA stop is no more than 4 to 7 minutes. MARTA requires MARTA passes, which may be purchased at MARTA rail stations or at the Dobbs University Center on central campus.

The closest MARTA bus line to Clairmont Campus is the #19, located on Clairmont Road (which is the main road that serves the housing complex where SIHP students live). Central campus is serviced by the #6 or #36, off of Clifton Road.

Visit the MARTA website at www.itsmarta.com to learn more about fares, schedules, and service. Plan for at least 30-45 minutes of commute time on public transportation from your SIHP location to downtown Atlanta.

The campus shuttle service (CLIFF) transports students from Clairmont Campus to Emory's central campus via the C Route, the Loop, or the E Route. The campus shuttle stop, located at the Starvine Parking Deck, is at most a 3 minute walk and the ride can take about 10 to 15 minutes depending on amount of riders and stops requested.

Clairmont Campus and Emory University offer the convenience of a residential community, but proximity to the amenities of a large city.
