The COLLEGE COUNCIL provides student oversight and serves as the students' governing body for Emory College. The council serves to disburse funding to the more than 110 undergraduate organizations, provide an outlet for concerned students to discuss pressing issues, and enact legislation to improve upon the status quo within Emory College. In addition to the general council, there are four sub-committees: student concerns, administrative, budget, and programming. Membership on each committee is open to the student body, and these committees offer a good starting point for those interested in participation in student government. Representatives to the council (four per undergraduate class in addition to undergraduate representatives from the schools of nursing and business) and the executive officers are elected in the spring. Elections for first-year student representatives are held in early September.

Meetings of College Council and its subcommittees are open to all students, and visitors are always welcome. In addition to its legislative functions, the council sponsors a free shuttle to Lenox Mall every weekend, funding for Dooley's Dates, the annual Great Debate Series, the annual State of Race Debate, multiple spirit programming events, screenings on the green, educational workshops for student organizations, and many other activities. College Council also maintains the charters of all existing organizations and charters all new College organizations. The council meets on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Faculty Dining Room. College Council offices are located in the DUC, rooms 507E and 501E; the phone number is 404.727.6167; and the mailing address is Drawer ZZ. Please visit www.students.emory.edu/collegecouncil/ for more information.

College Council officers are President Feras Akbik, Vice President Christian Bax, Secretary Maya Vizvary, Vice President for Communications Jovita Wang, Treasurer Lauren Schell, Vice President for Programming Brittany Bermudez, Student Concerns Chair Andrew Chern, and Chief of Staff Shawn Finnell. As noted earlier, College Council also has 18 student representatives -- four elected from each college class, one from the undergraduate business school, and one from the nursing school.
