The STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION (SGA) is the University-wide student governing body, representing students in all divisions through its executive, legislative and judicial branches.

The SGA works to ensure basic student rights and strives to respond to the interests, needs, and concerns of the general student body.

Executive

The executive branch includes the SGA president and executive cabinet.

The president is the official spokesperson of the student body. The cabinet includes the president, executive vice president, attorney general, chief of staff, and vice presidents for programming, finance, communications, and alumni relations.

Legislative

Representatives from every division of the University sit on the student legislature.

The legislature meets on Mondays at 7 p.m. in the Faculty Dining Room of the Dobbs University Center.

All students are invited to attend. Any student may submit legislation.

Judicial

The judicial branch of student government is the Constitutional Council, which functions as the Supreme Court of the student body.

The Constitutional Council hears appeals from groups or individuals about issues such as violations of student rights and improper procedures.

Student activities

The SGA keeps files on all chartered student organizations, including officers’ names and contact information.

Meredith Honeycutt, the SGA business manager, is responsible for overseeing more than 200 student organization accounts funded by the SGA with student activity fees. She also serves as an information source for SGA activities. Her direct line is 404.727.3513.
