Governor Miller addresses Emory alumni
Georgia Gov. Zell Miller added a sense of heightened prestige to the annual
Emory Medal awards at this year's Alumni Weekend festivities. Miller told
the 300 alumni gathered in Glenn Memorial auditorium that as governor he
wanted "to create a culture of higher expectations, in which the question
would not be whether to go to college but which college or technical school
to go to." University President William M. Chace saluted Gov. Miller
as "the single best friend of education in this state," for his
support of the Hope Scholarship program and the Georgia Research Alliance.
