Prior to the Event

Each graduating student is allocated two guest tickets and have been notified by email with instructions to secure tickets. All guests, regardless of age, must have a ticket to enter. Tickets are non-transferable.

Disability Services

Is there any service for the hearing impaired?

Live-captioning is available for all ceremonies.

Can I drop off a guest with mobility concerns near the ceremony site and then park my vehicle?

Yes, a passenger drop-off area is located near the entrance of Building C.

Does Emory University provide wheelchairs to rent or borrow on the morning of Commencement?

Emory does not provide wheelchair rental services. The following vendors are provided as a service to Commencement guests to assist you with locating a wheelchair rental company. Emory is not responsible for rental arrangements, products, or practices.

Are there professional photographers at the school diploma ceremonies?

The school ceremonies utilize contract photographers who will provide proofs (hard copy or digital) for purchase of each student receiving her or his diploma. Contact your school for more information.

Do you offer formal Commencement portraits?

Formal portraits will not be offered for 2021.

Is there rehearsal for Commencement?

No. 

How long is each ceremony?

Approximately one and a half hours. 

At the Event

Who can attend the 2021 Commencement event?

Graduating students and 2 of their registered guests.

How do I view the virtual Commencement event?

Each ceremony will have their own virtual ceremony page. Check back for information and links.

Who is the featured Speaker this year?

We are pleased to have Dr. Anthony Fauci speak via livestream at the Emory College of Arts and Sciences.

Where should I park for this event?

Parking is available at the Georgia World Congress Center. Parking information will be updated on the ceremony schedule page as it becomes available.

How early can I enter the GWCC?

Parking will open 2 hours prior to the event, and the GWCC doors will open only 1 hour prior to the event.         

Where do I enter the GWCC?

Each cermony will have a specific entrance in to the GWCC Building C. Look for outdoor signage at the event.

Do I have to wear a mask? (even if I’m fully vaccinated)?

Yes, everyone must wear a mask at this event

Can I bring food and water to the event?

No, we asked that you do not bring food or beverage to the venue. We ask attendees do not drink or eat in order to continue with the face covering mandate. 

Will there be water at the event?

No, not unless medically necessary. We ask attendees do not drink or eat in order to continue with the face covering mandate.

Can I gather with my friends or family after the event?

No, we asked that everyone exit promptly after the event to follow safety protocols.      

All ceremonies will continue as planned since the GWCC will hold the event.
