Retirement fund changes
Emory’s Benefit Funds Committee regularly reviews the funds offered by our retirement plan for performance, diversification and expenses. As a result of this review, effective May 1, five funds will be dropped from the plan and three new funds will be added.

The funds being eliminated are five of the Fidelity Select Funds, which are highly concentrated in specific industries. The plan offers other funds that include these industries but are focused on broader sectors (such as high technology) and therefore are more appropriate choices for retirement funds. The Fidelity funds being eliminated are Select Biotechnology, Select Computers, Select Developing Communications, Select Electronics, and Select Software and Computer Services.

Retirement plan participants directing contributions to these funds have are reminded that they must contact Fidelity at 800-343-0806 prior to May 1 to reallocate future contributions. If you do not reallocate, your contributions will be deposited in the Fidelity Retirement Government Money Market Fund.

The funds being added will round out some industry gaps in our fund selection and allow for additional diversification. The new funds are Fidelity Select Financial Services, Fidelity Utilities and Vanguard Health Care.

Before investing in a new fund you should carefully review the prospectus. Call Fidelity at 800-343-0806 or Vanguard at 800-523-1188 for a prospectus or to talk to a customer service representative.

If you have any questions, contact your benefits specialist.
