Register for dialogue on gender

Registration is now open to faculty, staff, alumni and students for a dialogue group on gender as part of Emory’s Transforming Community Project. Participation and materials are free.

Dialogue on Gender will meet weekly on Tuesdays in Room 363 of the Dobbs University Center, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., beginning Sept. 14.

The group begins by exploring terminology and concepts with the goal of challenge participants to think about issues including a shift away from the gender binary, power and violence.

Participants will learn about Emory when it was an all-male institution (1836-1953), the process of becoming a co-educational institution, and how Emory’s gendered story intersects with race, class, nationality and ability.

The semester will culminate with a group-developed community action project, drawing on primary and secondary source readings, art, videos and guest speakers.

The dialogue is sponsored by the Center for Women and the Office of Equal Opportunity Programs.

Register online through Survey Monkey.  For registration questions, contact the TCP office (404.727.6198).
