Guest artist Kyle Abraham a highlight of 'Dance in Progress' series

Abraham's choreography has been seen throughout the Unites States and abroad.

The Emory Dance Program hosts guest choreographer Kyle Abraham as part of the ongoing "Dance in Progress" series presented this fall in the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts Dance Studio.

Abraham's choreography has been seen throughout the Unites States and abroad, most recently at Dance Theater Workshop, Bates Dance Festival, Jacob's Pillow, and Fall for Dance Festival at New York's City Center.

Abraham comes to Emory as part of a two-week residency, during which time he will teach classes, participate in outreach events with local high schools and create a new dance work to be performed by Emory students during the Emory Dance Company fall performance on Nov. 17-19.

Abraham will return to Emory in February 2012 along with his company Abraham.In.Motion, to present their groundbreaking work "The Radio Show" on Feb. 23-25, 2012.

The "Dance in Progress" series showcases various stages of the choreographic process. Choreographers may present after performances, sharing their findings and illuminations; or while they are living the dynamic, chaotic process of crafting and discovering; or during the initial, impulsive cultivation of concepts, thoughts, images and movement.
