The H-1B petition is employer specific and job specific. As an H1B employee of Emory University, you may only be employed and paid by Emory University. In addition, you may only be employed in the specific job described in the H-1B petition filed on your behalf by Emory. No other employment is allowed, unless another prospective employer files an H1B petition for concurrent employment, or a new amended petition is filed to reflect a change in your employment conditions with Emory if the incidental employment involves working outside the customary duties and responsibilities of your present position.
You may not accept honorariums to be paid by an entity other than the current employer. Only normal and customary travel expenses may be reimbursed to the H-1B for an occasional lecture, consultation or scholarly activity performed elsewhere within the U.S.
