Carter Center hosts ski weekend
President Jimmy Carter and Rosalynn Cater will host their ninth annual ski weekend Feb. 7–11 at the Crested Butte Mountain Resort in Crested Butte, Colo., to benefit the Carter Center.

On Saturday, Feb. 8, an auction featuring several wood pieces hand-crafted and signed by President Carter will take place. Auction items can be viewed at www.cartercenter.org, or catalogs may be requested by calling 404-420-3809.

Also on the trip will be 10 Atlanta high school students, all of whom are members of FutureForce, a leadership program for at-risk teens.

Emory presents Japanese film series

A series of four films focusing on minorities in Japanese
society will be shown at Emory on Thursdays from Feb. 8–March 15.

The films are sponsored by the Consulate General of Japan and the Film Studies Department. All films are free and open to the public, and will be shown in 206 White Hall at 7:30 p.m.

The films that will be shown are:
• Thursday, Feb. 8: Hakai (Outcast/The Broken Commandment, 1948).
• Thursday, Feb. 15: Kiku To Isamu (Kiku and Isamu, 1959).
• Thursday, March 1: Kayoko No Tameni (For Kayoko, 1984).
• Thursday, March 8: Harukoma No Uta (Song of the Spring Pony, 1985).
