Susan Youngblood Ashmore
Susan Youngblood Ashmore, associate professor of history at Oxford College, has been honored with two awards for her book, “Carry It On: The War on Poverty and the Civil Rights Movement in Alabama, 1964–1972.”
The Southern Association for Women Historians named the book as the 2009 recipient of the Willie Lee Rose Prize. The book also received the Francis B. Simkins Award, given jointly by the Southern Historical Association and Longwood University.
