History of Haitian family is J. Harvey Young Lecture

“Citizen Rosalie: An African Woman and Her Children in the Era of the Haitian Revolution” will be presented by Rebecca J. Scott, Charles Gibson Distinguished University Professor of History and Professor of Law at the University of Michigan, for the J. Harvey Young Lecture on Thursday, April 1 at 4 p.m. in the Jones Room, Woodruff Library.

Scott's talk is drawn from her new project that traces the history of a family across three generations, from enslavement in 18th-century West Africa through emancipation during the Haitian Revolution and subsequent resettlement in New Orleans, then France, then Belgium
