2011-12 Candler Concert Series has international flair

Emory's Schwartz Center for Performing Arts announces the season for the 2011-2012 Flora Glenn Candler Concert Series. From Grammy winner Hilary Hahn to the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the musical line-up represents talent from around the world. A special feature is the Candler season's dance artist, Kyle Abraham, who brings his latest work "The Radio Show" to the Schwartz Center Dance Studio.

Recently named "Gramophone" magazine's Artist of the Year, Hahn is a two-time Grammy–winning soloist. She will be joined by Ukrainian-born Valentina Lisitsa on the piano. Watch the video

Schola Cantorum de Venezuela (SCV)

SCV, Venezuela's choral society, has a repertoire of more than 50 major symphonic-choral works and has performed with conductors including Sir Simon Rattle, Claudio Abbado, Gustavo Dudamel, Helmuth Rilling and Robert Spano. Watch the video

Abraham.in.Motion, "The Radio Show"
Feb. 23-25, 2012

Kyle Abraham and his company, Abraham.in.Motion, delve into identity and personal history in "The Radio Show." Creating an abstract narrative around the loss of communication, Abraham investigates the effects of the abrupt discontinuation of a radio station on a community and the lingering effects of Alzheimer's and aphasia on a family.
