Take Back the Night seeks to end sexual violence

The feature event of Take Back the Night, Emory’s 7th annual series to protest and prevent sexual violence, is Monday, Oct. 24 beginning at 5:30 p.m. on the Quad.

The rally provides an opportunity "to speak out against sexual violence and to support of survivors of violence within the Emory community," says Lauren Bernstein, the coordinator of the Office of Health Promotion's Sexual and Relationship Violence Prevention Education and Response Program.

A social hour as well as a quiet space will be available immediately afterward in Calloway Hall.

President Jim Wagner and other faculty, staff and students will be giving remarks and reading anonymous stories submitted by survivors.

Any member of the Emory community can submit their experience with sexual or relationship violence to be read anonymously at Take Back the Night.

Those who would like to read their own stories can contact Bernstein at Lauren.Bernstein@emory.edu or 404.727.1514.

Take Back the Night Week is organized by the Alliance for Sexual Assault Prevention (ASAP) and the Office of Health Promotion in solidarity with over 20 campus partners including the Center for Women, Sexual Assault Peer Advocates, Late Night @ Emory and the Office of Multicultural Programs and Services.

Program sponsors also want all members of the Emory community to share ideas for how to end sexual violence and build a safer, more survivor-supportive Emory community by taking this survey.

Other Take Back the Night Week events include:
