Named after former United
States Vice-President and Emory alumnus, Alben W. Barkley, the Barkley
Forum, in conjunction with the Emory Admissions Office, awards a
merit scholarship to an incoming first year student every year.
Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement and debate excellence
to be eligible for consideration. Applicants must submit their application
directly to the Barkley Forum for review by the Director of the
Barkley Forum and the Director of Admissions at Emory University.
The form includes current cumulative G.P.A., test scores, and a
record of debate accomplishments.
For further
information about the Alben W. Barkley Merit Scholarship, contact
Christy Bradley, at christy.bradley@emory.edu.
Other academic
and merit based scholaships are available through the Emory Scholars
Program. Many members of the Barkley Forum have received such scholarships
in the past. However, those awards are determined solely by the
Admissions Office and the Deans of Emory College.
