Pride Awards
2010 Pride Awards: Tuesday, March 2 at 6:30 p.m. Miller Ward Alumni House.
The Pride Awards are held on or close to March 2 of each year to commemorate the march through campus that began Emory's move toward equal rights for lgbt people.
The Awards are attended by lgbt and ally students, staff, faculty, alumni and President Wagner. The GALA Leadership Award, the Studies in Sexuality Essay Contest prizes, the Chesnut LGBT Person of the Year Award and Lavender Diplomas are all presented during the ceremony, which includes a keynote speech from an lgbt leader. Past keynotes include Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Margaret Edson, SONG's Craig Washington, Charis Books owner Sara Look, and Emory/Harvard author and professor Dr. Mark Jordan. |
