Schwartz pipe organ a work of art itself:
University Organist Timothy Albrecht has reason to smile as the Schwartz Center’s Emerson Concert Hall is outfitted with a pipe organ that promises to rival those of the finest European cathedrals. Hand-crafted by Minnesota organ builder Daniel Jaeckel, the 14-ton organ (dubbed Jaeckel’s “Opus 45”) features pipes as long as 27 feet and as short as a quarter-inch. The instrument will silently dominate Emerson Concert Hall during 2004–05; Jaeckel will tune the pipes next summer, and Albrecht will perform a recital in fall 2005. Photo by Jon Rou.
