Sign up for professional development programs

Emory Learning Services, a department of Human Resources, is currently taking applications for several professional development programs to be offered in 2012.  Whether it's developing leadership and managerial skills, enhancing the role of the administrative professional, or helping to further an employee's career through mentoring, these programs offer Emory employees the opportunity to strengthen their skills, build relationships and expand their knowledge.

"Professional development is key to the success of any career," says Director of Learning Services Wanda Hayes. "No matter what stage of your career you are in, you can always learn more, become better at what you do, and gain valuable insight by going through a training program alongside other Emory employees."

Programs include:

Manager Development Program: Designed for experienced managers and individuals who have been hired or recently promoted to a management role within the last year, this program allows leaders to develop and enhance their skills within a cohort group of up to 20 participants.

Supervisor Development Program: Provides supervisors and new managers with opportunities to gain skills and enhance those assets that support Emory‘s strategic vision as well as that of their department. Ideal candidates are individuals who have been hired or recently promoted to a role with supervisory responsibilities.

Administrative Professional Program: Available to full-time Emory University employees who serve in an administrative role, this program allows participants to develop and enhance their administrative skills within a cohort group of up to 24 participants representing different departments across the University.

Mentor Emory: Assists in personal development through paired relationships with mentors. Through structured learning sessions as well as one-on-one coaching, mentees learn how to implement strategies to fulfill their goals. Applications are sought from both mentors and mentees.

Applications for each of these programs are available at www.learningservices.emory.edu

The deadline to apply is Friday, Nov. 18.  Employees can be nominated by their departments or self-nominate, but applications must be approved by a department supervisor.  All sessions are held at 1599 Clifton Road, unless otherwise noted.
