- Coordinate the check-in and check-out of members living in the house
- Monitor the physical integrity of the house and reporting maintenance concerns for immediate repair
- Ensure students' behavior is consistent with appropriate living conditions regarding the physical integrity and safety of the house at all times
- Advise chapter members, chapter advisors and the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life of challenging and unusual trends or problems within the chapter
- Inform chapter members about policies, regulations and safety procedures in accordance with campus and fraternity and sorority policies
- Provide daily security and maintenance checks of the house
- Meet regularly with the House Manager, House Corporation and Office of Sorority and Fraternity Life
- May assist with the damage billing process
- Provide reports to the House Corporation and/or chapter advisor
- Accept "on-call" responsibility as assigned
- Performs other related tasks and responsibilities as required.
Eligibility
Fraternity House Directors must be currently enrolled in a graduate program at Emory University. In addition to graduate student status, ideal candidates should have experience with residential living, supervision of staff, student leadership, and crisis/conflict management. Knowledge of Emory University policies and procedures is helpful.
Compensation
Currently, the compensation and benefits package for the Fraternity House Director position includes the following:
- Salary (9-month contract)
- Furnished, air-conditioned on-campus apartment within an assigned fraternity house. (All utilities, local telephone, cable and internet service are provided.)
- Opportunity to remain in the building for 12 months if necessary
Training
All Fraternity House Directors are expected to return to Emory by the first week of August for training.
