In order to provide for maximum efficiency and minimum downtime of the NMR instruments, the following guidelines MUST be followed by all users. These policies are in addition to the established NMR Center Policy.

1. Food, drinks and smoking are prohibited in the NMR laboratory.

2. Non-routine adjustments of probes and any internal adjustments within any instrument console should not be made by users. Repairing and modification of the instrument by the user is forbidden.

3. No NMR samples should be prepared in the NMR Lab. NMR sample tubes should be placed in an assigned tube rack on each instrument. What is brought in must be taken out when you have finished the experiment. Any unidentified samples, tubes, etc. will be discarded.

4. Any problems, malfunctions, system failures or damages must be reported to Dr. Shaoxiong Wu. If he is not available, appropriate notes should be left on the console so that further damage is not incurred.

6. If users do not cancel their appointment with a two hour notice, their account will be charged for the time he/she signed up for.

7. No user should attempt to train a NEW user on any instruments. The NMR Center Service Instructors will train all NEW users after they have received an approved request form.

8. The NMR Center will maintain the instruments and will set up routine experiments. The instrument will be checked out with an appropriate standard to ensure that it is working. More advanced experiments will be developed upon users' requests.

9. All users should contact Dr. Shaoxiong Wu about complaints regarding instrument usage and disputes.

10. The Director has the obligation to suspend the hands-on use of the NMR Center Facilities by anyone who uses the instrument inappropriately, or who does not follow the standard laboratory conduct rules and this NMR Users Policies.

All users are welcome to make suggestions and to discuss any questions concerning these policies or any aspect of the NMR Center operation with Dr. Shaoxiong Wu.
