Kids read and dream at Carlos Museum: Carlos Museum Director Bonnie Speed enthralls her young audience with a reading of The Great Kapok Tree, Oct. 1 in the Carlos’ Ancient American Gallery. Speed was one of about a dozen Emory administrators who pitched in for “Around the World With Deans and Directors,” an event cosponsored by Reading is Fundamental and Atlanta Public Schools Head Start that brought to campus about 200 4-, 5- and 6-year-olds to visit the museum’s galleries and hear stories that related to the collections. “For a museum that teaches about art and culture from around the world, this program makes sense,” Speed says.
